+ights.

+ights magazine is a new concept by stylist Lara Angol.

+ights magazine is about constantly evolving concepts. Each issue is based on one idea or concept formed outside of the fashion context, which is then applied to form new perceptions and visual information from the unexpected. In each issue, the pages of +ights will consist of several fashioned responses to a current theme, idea or practitioner. The ideas are broken down, studied then reapplied, from the non-fashion context to the glamorized platform of the Fashion magazine. It becomes a process of redefinition, transferring and blurring the lines further between Fashion and thought.

Check out the first issue of +ights magazine HERE.

A copy of the magazine is currently on show at a pop-up shop in Cabot Circus alongside other UWE Fashion students.
Why not head down to Cabot Circus for the private view this Friday 28th May from 7pm and have a look.

Just head over to Juno here and you can even grab a .wav of it.

Only had 1 listen and it sounds OK, but could be a grower and more importantly could make the crowd go wild (i.e. be a good one to DJ with).

Everyone Loves the Bongo

This has been one of my favourite songs for a long time now:

Look up the original version for a more housey affair.

Also, check out a short mini mix of songs in a similar vein that I did for Pardon My French radio show a little while back:

Julio Bashmore

With his name cropping up increasingly in the House/ Funky scene it certainly has been the year for Bristol producer Julio Bashmore ending with the release of his “ Um Bongo” EP on Dirtybird. He completed remixes for Buraka som Sistema and Mosca earlier on this year and recently caught the attention of Candian Bloggers, Curbcrawlers whom he crafted a laid back retro Detroit mix for. Superbly balancing House, Techno and Dubstep he finishes off with a touch of old skool bass to his tracks, SUM are very pleased to have him.
Watch this space in 2010, he deserves your attention.
